7/4/2025 Explore Girona

Girona is known as "City of the Four Rivers." It features a historic center dominated by medieval buildings and reminders of Roman, Arab, and Jewish influences. The historic center of this Catalan city preserves remains of its rich history of Forca Vella, dating back to its founding by the Romans in the 1st century BC, and El Call, Girona's Jewish Quarter.

The Museum of Jewish History is housed in an old synagogue, which offers guests an immersive look at the culture of Jewish people
living in Catalonia, particularly in Girona.

According to tradition, Saint Narcis, Girona's patron saint,
and the powerful symbol of the fly combined their powers
during the 13th-century French siege, when the flies emerged
and attacked the French soldiers from Saint Narcís's tomb
causing the French to retreat.
Located on Carrer de les Mosques (Fly Street) is Saint Narcis.
Touching the foot of Saint Narcis is supposed to bring good luck
and good fortune.

My first NA beer in Spain.
Mahou (great!)
Today's lunch was the most delicious and
fantastic meal of the entire pre-trip.
Clarisa managed to find every item
I told her I loved eating from my Camino
to be shared as tapas.
First came salad (for Mary), followed by garlic shrimp,
calamari, mussels, padrones, and bread.
(What a feast!)

Soon, it would be time to walk the wall
for digestive and photographic reasons.
Three of us went and enjoyed some fantastic views.
The university and the cathedral are viewed from the wall.
When we finished walking the wall, we decided to descend
using the ramp we traveled earlier. It turned out to be a wonderful
choice, which ended with a spontaneous giant puppet parade.
