7/5/2025 Explore Cadaques and Gala Dali Castle

The Costa Brava, located in the heart of Cap de Creus and Cadaqués, in the most northerly stretch of the Catalan coast, is one of the most beautiful in Spain. What was once an economy based on fishing, wine, and olive oil has now become a prime vacation destination.



On our way back to Girona, we stopped in Pubol to explore Gala Dali Castle, the castle Salvador Dali bought for his beloved wife and slowly transformed into a sanctuary dedicated to her, even though he could only visit if he received a written invitation from her.

The first thing you notice about the property, 
are the magnificent, dark purple bouganvilla.
The eclectic castle was typical Dali inside and out.

Near the top, we explored La Mer de Glace (The Sea of Ice),  the largest glacier in France, and the third largest in the Alps.  It's four miles long and 656 feet deep.   7/11/2025 Chamonix, Aiguille Du Midi Today's funicular ride reached elevations of 12,600 feet and temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. (This blog is dedicated to Patricia Gordon, who, like me, is terrified of heights.) Cable cars, funiculars, ski gondolas,  and tandem paragliding. I set aside today as my day for tandem paragliding, hoping to overcome my fear of heights. (All videos and photographs courtesy of Walter Mastroluca.) Preparing for the adventure. I was disappointed that we didn't fly with the pink parachute.
