Lovely Lake Lugano is one of the most unique lakes we visited 
because its glacial lake is situated along the border 
between southern Switzerland and northern Italy, 
with a Swiss population of 63% and 37% from Italy, 
known for its world-renowned cuisine.
On the ferry ride from Lugano to Lake Como
Free at Last! Finally relaxing after herding Americans.

 7/9-10/2025 Chamonix, France Photos from my hotel room. Rock climbing competition and festival. Breakfast selfies. Catholic Church Episcopal Church Astrid Chapel Montenvers Train Views from the funicular railway, which began operation in 1908. Near the top, we explored La Mer de Glace (The Sea of Ice),  the largest glacier in France, and the third largest in the Alps.  It's four miles long and 656 feet deep.   7/11/2025 Chamonix, Aiguille Du Midi Today's funicular ride reached elevations of 12,600 feet and temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. (This blog is dedicated to Patricia Gordon, who, like me, is terrified of heights.) Cable cars, funiculars, ski gondolas,  and tandem paragliding. I set aside today as my day for tandem paragliding, hoping to overcome my fear of heights. (All videos and photographs courtesy of Walter Mastroluca.) Preparing for the adventure. I was disappointed that we didn't fly with the pink parachute.
