7/6/2025 Overland to Tarragona and Sitges

What better way to break up a 2.5-hour drive than visiting a winery? Our stop in Penedes schooled us in Spanish viniculture of Cava producers, Spain's most popular sparkling wine, characterized by its bubbles and bright golden color. (The name comes from the old underground caves where the wine was originally stored.)

Santiago educated us about the production
of palago CAVA Brute Nature from start to finish.

Our next destination is Sitges, often described as the Saint-Tropez of Spain, an upscale resort town that was once a center of counterculture, and is now artists and European expats alike.

Tarragona. What can I say?
Not only is Tarragona a small-sized Catalan port city,
but it is the only hotel in all my travels built atop the Roman ruins
founded in 218 BC, then called Tarraco (the first Roman colony in Spain).
I was so excited when I realized my third-floor room balcony view included the Amphitheatre, the Forum, and the Mediterranean!
